HMS Families,
Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year! We are excited for a great school year with all of our T-Birds! This will be my ninth year at Harmony Middle School, and fourth year as Principal. Prior to being principal, I spent three years as the assistant principal and have loved every moment of my time at HMS. We have such a wonderful school community that is supportive, caring, and positive. I am honored, excited, and proud to serve as principal here at HMS. Previous to entering administration, I taught high school social studies at both Blue Valley West and Blue Valley Southwest High Schools and coached boys' basketball and boys' and girls' golf. I truly enjoy working with students inside and outside of the classroom and I am looking forward to providing your child with a great middle school experience.
I received my B.S. in Education from Rockhurst University and my Master's in School Administration from the University of Texas at Arlington. When I am not at HMS, I enjoy spending time with my wife Florence and our three kids Natalia, Andres, and Camila. We enjoy being active and doing fun things together as a family.
I truly believe we offer the total package at HMS. We have an outstanding staff that care deeply about our students both inside and outside of the classroom. We look forward to providing an exemplary academic program and enriching extra-curricular activities to give our students the best middle school experience.
Proud Principal,
Nate Winslow

It’s a great day to be a TBird! I am thrilled to continue as Assistant Principal for my third school year. Prior to administration, I taught SS and ELA on the Harmony Middle School 6th grade team for nine years. I also spent some time in the elementary world teaching 5th grade in both Gardner-Edgerton and Shawnee Mission. While teaching at Harmony I was an avid participant in extracurricular activities, including cheer coach, Camp T-Bird coordinator and assistant play and musical director. I truly value cultivating relationships with my colleagues, students and families and am ecstatic to be in the Nest!
After graduating from Blue Valley North High School, I received my B.S. in Elementary Education from MidAmerica Nazarene University, my Master’s in Education from Baker University, and most recently completed my Educational Administration Licensure from Emporia State University.
When I am not at school I enjoy spending time with my family- husband (Dustin) and two kids (Elliot and Fletcher). I love coffee, dark chocolate, KC sports and when time allows, a good documentary or podcast.
I love encouraging and helping students find their passion and place in middle school. I believe that we have the best community to foster a collaborative environment for academic and social emotional learning and success.
