COMMUNITY SERVICE
-
In recent years, the Blue Valley School District has shifted from the National Presidential Service Award due to the lack of oversight and verification of hours on the part of the national organization. Moving forward, our goal is to engage and celebrate students in school-wide or team/club-based service opportunities.
Blue Valley North High School will no longer have students submit personal volunteer service hours, and students will not receive a certificate.
This does not mean that students should not continue to find ways outside of school to serve their community. As students look forward to college and career, engaging in service that reflects their passions and has community impact is valuable and essential. We strongly encourage students and families to continue to serve in the community. As part of our support for serving others, we will update the opportunities found on our Community Service page as we become aware of them. That page can be found here: COMMUNITY SERVICE
Many of our honor societies have a community service component. Please check with those individual organizations for their expectations and methods for collecting hours.
Please direct any questions about this shift in focus to Cory Cox, Activities Director, at ccox@bluevalleyk12.org
