Dr. Tyler Alexander
Dr. Tyler Alexander began his career in education as a teacher and coach at Blue Valley Southwest in 2010. During his time at BVSW, Dr. Alexander taught multiple Social Studies and AP courses, served as department chair.
In the fall of 2015, Dr. Alexander began his administrative career at Blue Valley Northwest High School. Over the next 6 years at BVNW, Dr. Alexander assumed multiple administrative roles. Dr. Alexander returned to BVSW as an Assistant Principal in 2021, before being named Principal for the 2022-2023 school year.
The 2024-2025 school year will be Dr. Alexander’s 3rd year as principal of BVSW. The opportunity to continue to serve the SW community in this role is incredibly exciting and humbling.
Dr. Alexander earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education from MidAmerica Nazarene University in 2010. In 2015, Dr. Alexander earned a Master’s Degree in PreK-12 Educational Administration from Emporia State University. Dr. Alexander graduated in 2018 with his Doctoral degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Kansas.
Dr. Alexander is supported by a wonderful family. He and his wife, Kelley, Library Media Specialist at Morse Elementary, have two amazing children. His son, Graham, is a 2nd Grader at Morse Elementary, and his daughter, Olivia, is so excited to now be at Morse with her older brother and Mom as a Kindergartner.

Mrs. Mallory Huseman
Assistant Principal and Activities Director
Mrs. Huseman began her career in education as a teacher and coach at Blue Valley West in 2010. During her time in Blue Valley, Mrs. Huseman has taught and coached in both the Blue Valley High and Blue Valley West School communities. She has had the opportunity to teach in both Career Technical Education as well as Physical Education. During her time at Blue Valley West, Mrs. Huseman taught a variety of classes, served as the department chair, and was the head coach for the cross country and track teams.
Mrs. Huseman earned her Bachelors in Science in Business Education from Fort Hays State University in 2010. In 2020, Mrs. Huseman earned a Master’s Degree in PreK-12 Educational Administration from Emporia State University.
Mrs. Huseman is supported by a wonderful family. Her and her husband, Levi, both work in the educational world. Levi is a teacher and coach in the Olathe School District. Together they have two children. Rory is a 3rd grader and Charlotte is a 1st grader.
The 2024-2025 school year will be Mrs. Huseman’s 3rd year as assistant principal/activities director of BVSW. She is thrilled to continue being a part of the SW community.

Dr. Anne Kastelic
Assistant Principal for Curriculum and Instruction
Dr. Anne Kastelic began teaching mathematics at Shawnee Mission West. During her time at SMW, she taught a variety of math classes and was the dance team coach. She made her way to Blue Valley in 2016 to teach math at Blue Valley West.
Dr. Kastelic’s administrative career began during the 2019-2020 school year. She served as an administrative intern at Blue Valley North for one semester before transitioning to the Activities Director/Assistant Principal position at Blue Valley Southwest. Dr. Kastelic became the Assistant Principal for Curriculum and Instruction during the 2022-2023 school year.
Dr. Kastelic earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education and a minor in Leadership Studies from Kansas State University in 2012. In 2015, she earned a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration from the University of Kansas. Dr. Kastelic graduated in 2023 with her doctoral degree in Educational Leadership (PK-12).
Family means everything to Dr. Kastelic. She and her husband, Zak, have two children. Kaden is a 1st grader at Stanley Elementary and Kinsley is three. Both children enjoy coming to BVSW activities and games and love to cheer on the Timberwolves!

Mr. Mike Rasmussen
Assistant Principal and Athletic Director
Mr. Rasmussen began his career in education as a teacher and coach in Harrisonville, MO in 1994. While at Harrisonville High School he taught business education courses and was the head boys and girls soccer coach. In the fall of 1998, Mr. Rasmussen began teaching and coaching at Shawnee Mission South High school. There he taught multiple business education courses and served as the head girl's soccer coach and the varsity assistant for the boy's program.
In 2010 Mr. Rasmussen began his administrative career and served as Assistant Principal at Mission Valley Middle School and later at Shawnee Mission South High School. In 2017 Mr. Rasmussen moved to Blue Valley Southwest and is in his eighth year as Assistant Principal and Athletic Director.
Mr. Rasmussen earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing from Emporia State University in 1992 and a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education from Kansas State University in 1994. He has since obtained a Master’s in Business Administration from Avila University and a Master’s Degree in PreK-12 Educational Administration from Baker University.
Mr. Rasmussen’s greatest accomplishment is his wonderful family. His wife, Mercedes, is a career educator in the Shawnee Mission School District. He has two sons, one of whom is currently in college and the second recently graduated from college and is working for a sports analytics company out of the United Kingdom.
