Melissa Blevins

I am so excited to return for my second year as the principal of Blue River Elementary. My journey in education spans 24 years, during which I've had the privilege of serving in various roles and communities.

My career began in Blue Valley, where I started as a classroom teacher. I spent one year at Leawood Elementary and ten years teaching 3rd grade at Prairie Star Elementary.

In 2011, I transitioned into instructional coaching and later became Director of Curriculum and eventually an assistant principal at a charter school in Kansas City.

For the past seven years, I have served as a principal in Topeka, Lawrence and most recently in Blue Valley. Here, I've consistently demonstrated my unwavering dedication to creating a positive and inclusive school culture. By implementing progressive educational programs, promoting student engagement, and fostering a safe and nurturing environment, I've helped shape the academic and personal growth of countless students.

As a visionary educational leader, I believe deeply in the power of education to transform lives. With my extensive experience, passion for learning, and commitment to student success, I am dedicated to ensuring that every child at Blue River Elementary receives a high-quality education that prepares them for a bright future. Through my leadership, I strive to cultivate a love for learning, empower teachers, and create a supportive and enriching educational environment for the entire Blue River Elementary community.
