Tara Walrod, NBCT

Tara Walrod says it is her honor and privilege to be the Principal at Timber Creek Elementary.  She strongly believes in working together, being visible, and continuing the rigorous academic work taking place at TCE.  She is originally from the small town of Blue Mound, Kansas and graduated from Kansas State University with both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree. Tara was named a 2013 Kansas Master Teacher and has received National Board Certification.  Her and her husband have been active parents in Blue Valley raising a daughter who graduated from Blue Valley West and is now at Kansas State University.  She has been in education for over twenty years.  Her education career, as a teacher, started in the North Kansas City, Missouri and Charlottesville, Virginia school districts.  She later became an elementary counselor in Blue Valley working at Morse, Prairie Star, and Sunrise Point before becoming the Blue Valley District Coordinator for Student Services.  She feels fortunate to have been the Assistant Principal at TCE for two years prior and was mentored by Dr. Pamela Bakke.  Tara believes in working to help all students reach their fullest potential.  Leadership is only as strong as those that support it and she is grateful for such an amazing team of teachers, staff, PTA, families, and students.
