Dr. David Mitchell

ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL

Dr. David Mitchell brings over 32 years of experience in public education, including 27 years in middle school administration. Before joining Blue Valley Schools, he retired from the state of Missouri and most recently served in the Lee’s Summit R-7 School District, where he was the principal of Summit Lakes Middle School for the past eight years.

Dr. Mitchell began his career as an elementary and middle school health and physical education teacher along with coaching high school football and baseball. He holds a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from William Woods University, along with a Master’s Degree and Education Specialist Degree in Secondary Administration from the University of Central Missouri. He earned his Bachelor of Science from the University of Missouri–Columbia.

A passionate advocate for public education, Dr. Mitchell believes deeply in the critical role middle-level education plays in each student’s K–12 journey. He is enthusiastic about the opportunity to engage Oxford Middle School (OMS) students in meaningful experiences during these pivotal years—helping them explore areas of strength and personal interest that can shape their path in high school and beyond.

Respectfully,

Dr. David Mitchell
