Dr. Gillian Chapman

Dr. Gillian Chapman is a dedicated, student-centered leader who began serving as superintendent of Blue Valley Schools in July 2025, bringing with her more than 25 years of educational leadership experience and a strong record of championing innovation, developing recruitment and retention strategies, leading strategic planning and overseeing infrastructure and facility development.

Before joining Blue Valley, Chapman served as superintendent of Teton County School District No. 1 in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, from 2015 to 2024. She previously worked for 21 years in the Shawnee Mission School District, including 10 years in district-level leadership and seven years at the building level.

Throughout her career, she has built strong, collaborative relationships with staff, families and community partners, always keeping students at the center of her work. She was named the 2023 Wyoming Superintendent of the Year and served as president of the Wyoming Association of School Administrators from 2021 to 2022.

Chapman holds a bachelor’s degree from Pepperdine University, a master’s in education from the University of Central Missouri and a doctorate in education from Saint Louis University.

Known for leading with clarity, compassion and a belief in the potential of every learner, Chapman is honored to lead a district where students are at the heart of every decision.
