Parents/Guardians can enroll as an Observer to view grades, resources, and activities posted in their child's courses. Directions for generating a pair code, which is required to get started as an Observer, can be found in the Canvas Family Resources. Observer accounts can:

  • Read announcements

  • View the calendar

  • See the course syllabus

  • Access a list of assignments with due dates

  • See online assignments, but not discussion posts

  • Set up email or text notifications for announcements, assignments, and more

Blue Valley Elementary Schools use the Canvas Learning Mastery Gradebook which can only be viewed by observers using the Canvas web browser. Middle and High Schools use the Traditional Gradebook which is compatible with both the web browser and the Canvas Parent App. The Canvas Parent App can be installed on mobile devices (iOS, Android) to make viewing more convenient.
