For more than 50 years, Blue Valley Schools has been committed to providing students an education filled with opportunities by reimagining learning and changing the world. Located in suburban Kansas City, in the heart of Johnson County, Kansas, the school district serves more than 22,000 students at its five high schools, nine middle schools, and 22 elementary schools. Blue Valley consistently ranks among the top school districts in the nation, striving to provide each student with the opportunity to experience unprecedented academic success and unparalleled personal growth through personalized student learning.
The district offers many special programs including the Blue Valley Academy, a non-traditional program for high school students; ACCESS, a program teaching independent living skills for students with moderate to severe disabilities; and the Center for Advanced Professional Studies (CAPS), an innovative program for high school juniors and seniors, providing real-world, hands-on learning experience.The Blue Valley School District spans 91 square miles. Each school has its own attendance area. The staff members at all Blue Valley schools are here to help guide new district families through the registration process for the school in their attendance area, providing information on health and immunization requirements, transportation options and placement for special needs students.
Blue Valley schools are open to students who have legal residence in the district or nonresident students with approved transfers. To learn more about transfers, view the district's registration page.
The district's outer boundaries have been established by the state legislature. School attendance areas are reviewed by the Facility Planning Committee, a Board of Education advisory committee, and may change, based on information from that committee.
